Privacy
Last revised: 4 March 2026
This Privacy page explains how Amberwhisk Confectionery, a sweets shop and bakery at 38 Lower Rochester Road, Observatory, Cape Town, 7925, collects, uses, and stores information when you visit these pages or write through the published forms. We sell chocolates, candies, pastries, bread, and cakes from the counter. This notice covers the shop website and the notes you send about orders. It does not cover payment terminals run by a bank, courier tracking after a parcel leaves our door, or social networks you open from the header icons.
What we collect
We may collect information you send us directly, including your name, email address, phone number, cake date, guest count, allergen notes, and the message you submit through the visit form or oven-notes list. We also receive basic technical data such as your browser type, device, and pages viewed, which helps us keep the counter, gallery, and legal pages readable. We do not ask for bank passwords or identity documents through this site. If a message accidentally includes a card number, we delete it when we notice and we still answer the bakery question in the remaining text.
How we use that information
- To answer questions about boxed chocolates, morning pastries, celebration cakes, candies, nougat, bread, and seasonal tins
- To send kitchen reminders if you join the oven-notes list, which is a shop list for guests and not a prize mailing
- To keep the pages readable, the forms working, and cake calendars usable
- To meet legal, food-labelling, and record-keeping duties that apply to a small Cape Town bakery
Cookies
Our site may use cookies and similar tools so pages load, forms submit, and (where enabled) we can see which notes are read. Details sit in our Cookies page. Browser settings remain yours; blocking some cookies may limit a form or a list signup. Cookies on this shop site do not change an order waiting in the fridge, and they are not a loyalty card.
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not trade guest lists for advertising partnerships. We may share data with service providers who host the site, send mail, or protect the pages, and only as needed to run the shop or as required by law. We do not pass your cake notes to a third-party marketplace. If a legal request arrives, we share only what the request actually covers. A courier may receive a name, phone, and street for a weekday delivery window.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the reasons above, including answering your note, running the oven-notes list, or meeting legal duties. After that, we delete or anonymize it. Comment names on a notes thread may remain if you posted them in public; write us if you want a public remark removed where we can still identify the post. Technical logs rotate on a shorter cycle than cake-order mail. Allergen notes stay with an order until that cake is collected or cancelled.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, or ask us to stop using it for oven notes. Write to [email protected] to make a request and include enough detail for us to find the record without collecting extra data. We will not ask you to prove a past purchase as a condition of a privacy request. Card charges remain with your bank; this kitchen cannot reverse a terminal payment from a privacy form.
